R&D and Technological Achievements

Backwell research identified four basic principles which form the basis of the product concept:

  • Motion – Your body’s need for movement
  • Balance – The balance of your upper body keeps you working while we work your back
  • Natural pattern – walking pattern movement is natural and intuitive for your body to balance
  • Willpower – You know your back needs motion, but you are concentrated in your tasks, never mind – the chair will automatically activate the movement periodically.

We have built prototypes and tested them. Optimization was done on motion parameters as well as efficient implementation achieving:

  • Elegant implementation of complex 3D motion
  • Efficiency – low power consumption
  • Compact size
  • Smart control
